# Teardown: a checkout that leaks at the shipping step

> Canonical HTML page: https://bizfay.com/insights/teardown-checkout-that-leaks

A public teardown of a common e-commerce pattern where paid traffic is scaled into a checkout that loses a third of intent for avoidable reasons.

## What we looked at

Publicly observable behaviour only: page structure, load performance, the order of information, and where cost is revealed relative to commitment.

## The observation

Shipping cost appears after address entry. Every rupee spent driving traffic pays for that surprise. Moving cost disclosure earlier rarely improves the click-through metric and frequently improves the commercial one.
