Traffic & conversion
When more traffic makes a bad business problem worse
Traffic is amplification. Sent into a weak experience or a poorly matched offer, it amplifies the weakness and the cost at the same time.
Sessions are up, revenue is flat, and nobody can say precisely where it leaks.
Amplifiers don't fix the source
If the path from arrival to purchase converts poorly, doubling arrivals doubles the evidence of that fact and doubles the spend that produced it. The dashboard improves. The business does not.
Where the leak usually is
Message mismatch between the ad and the page. A value proposition that assumes knowledge the visitor does not have. Friction concentrated in one step that nobody has watched a real user attempt. Or traffic that is simply the wrong audience, bought because it was cheap.
Read the funnel as economics, not stages
Each step has a cost to improve and a value if improved. Rank them that way and the next piece of work usually chooses itself — often it is not another traffic source.

Your acquisition cost isn't always the problem
Rising CAC is usually treated as a media issue. More often it is an offer, margin or conversion issue that media is being asked to absorb.
Priorities & strategy
More marketing activity won't fix an unclear growth strategy
Activity is easy to add and hard to evaluate. When direction is unclear, adding more of it mostly increases the cost of finding out.

The cost of answering the wrong question
Most underperforming growth programmes are executed well. They are simply answering a question the business did not need answered. A working method for finding the real one.
Analysis
Acquisition cost is a symptom, not a diagnosis
Rising CAC is usually treated as a media problem. Broken down properly, it is often an offer, margin or conversion problem wearing a media costume.
